Both women have been proud Beyhive members as well as sharing the hometown – Houston – along with the celebrated pop icon. The athleisure collection officially launched on January 17 with celebrities and influencers receiving boxes.

Their shipments came at a time when the collection has been facing backlash for the lack of inclusivity from the plus-size community. The controversy began when essayist Candice Marie Benbow and blogger LaToya T. Wright pointed out the faux pas. Many fans have been voicing their opinions over the lack of sizes beyond XL in the collection – for both men and women.

Wright composed an essay on her blog Curvy Fashionista regarding the exclusion, even going as far as to point out Beyonce’s emphasis on inclusivity in a December 2019 press release for the collection.
